MiTAC, Monet+ Sign MoU to advance Smart City Payment Solution
On Monday, 13th of January, MiTAC Information Technology Corp. has signed a MoU with a Czech-based technology company Monet+. MiTAC and Monet+ will collaborate on intelligent public transportation services including Multi-Payment System, Automated Border Control System and AIoT collaboration platform. As MiTAC’s smart city deployment goes internationally, the cooperation between Taiwan and the Czech Republic would be further enhanced.
Monet+, based in Czech, is a technology company providing Electronic Payments and ID authentication services. Starting from 1996, Monet+ began to develop electronic wallet, smartcard payment, Authentication and Cryptography technology. It also participated in the project of open payment system and electronic National ID in the Czech Republic, Africa and South America.
Earlier in 1989, MiTAC started to develop Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) and EasyCard ticketing system for Taipei Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, which has earned high praise from foreign visitors for its convenience and efficiency. With only one card, people can travel throughout Taipei City.
The Average daily ridership of Taipei MRT system exceeded 2,000,000 trips. During New Year EVE, the ridership even reached 3,000,000 trips in one single day. There’s a variety of ticket/card types available for different kinds of passengers (students and elderlies, for instance). These contactless smartcards used across different public transportation system like metro, the city bike, buses, train, etc. All these services won’t happen if the system developer lacks capability for big data and system integration. MiTAC has keep offering the same high quality of technical service.
Prague mayor Zdeněk Hřib attended the Taipei Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE) in March last year. He visited MiTAC booth, taking the tour of MiTAC’s smart city solutions including the E-Gate for international airport in the Philippines, Info & Communication Integrated workstation for Taipei MRT Circular Line, MiAION Edge computing solution for facial recognition and Vehicle License Plate Recognition (VLPR). This year Taipei has officially signed a sister city agreement with Taipei, and a strengthened bilateral relationship regarding economy, business and technology can be expected.
MiTAC has participated in many AFC system projects of national-level transportation systems in Taiwan, such as Taipei MRT, Taiwan High Speed Rail, Bus and Highway. MiTAC’s Vice President Dr. Robert Ting said, “We hope our collaboration will innovate the smart payment applications, improve the quality of public transportation services, as part of the basis for Smart City, and create more smart city business opportunities.
