MiTAC helps Payment System integration for Danhai light rail

Department of Rapid Transit Systems of New Taipei City has announced on January 15 the launch of the open payment system for the Danhai light rail. Passengers now can use their MasterCard to pay on Danhai light rail, buses, and in Danhai shopping area.
MiTAC Chairman Liang Su said, MiTAC team has been working with MasterCard and Department of Rapid Transit Systems of New Taipei City to create the first open-payment-available area for transportation and shopping which will become one of the highlights of Danhai light rail.
MiTAC owns 20-year experience of Rail Payment system/ Automatic Fare Collection system, participating in the development of the Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR), the Taiwan Railways Administration (TRA), the Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC), EasyCard and ETC system.
MiTAC’s Automatic Fare Collection System (AFCS) was also successfully replicated in China and Southeast Asia countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, and India.
In order to avoid interrupting the daily operation of the Danhai Light Rail, MiTAC team had to modify the existing AFC equipment and run tests during non-operating hours at night.
A light rail station is relatively small, comparing with a metro station. This restricted the construction on Fiber Optic Network for temporary use. During the modification and test process, we have to use 4G cellular networks which increasing the costs.
Director Wang Yirong, who is responsible for the diversified payment project of the Danhai Light Rail, said that
“It took only 4 months, for us to complete the conversion of the multiple payment system and pass the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) and MasterCard Terminal Integration Process (M-TIP).”MiTAC’s Multiple Payment System Project Director, Anson Wang said, “The project-schedule is tight, but our team has made every effort to insure our professionalism and efficiency”
